US Iran War Bill Exceeds $47 Billion, Pentagon Says

9 News HD: The cost of the US war against Iran has crossed $47 billion, according to the latest Pentagon estimate. The new figure is more than 25% higher than the $37.5 billion estimate shared by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth in July.
The latest figures show how expensive the conflict has become for the US military. The money covers military operations, weapons used during the war and equipment that needs to be replaced.
More than $29 billion is expected to be needed to replace missiles and other weapons used during the fighting. The Pentagon estimate also includes more than $6 billion to replace lost or damaged military equipment, including aircraft and drones.
The figures were obtained by Reuters from Pentagon data. The US Defence Department has not publicly released the latest estimate or responded to a request for comment.
The total cost could rise further because the current estimate does not clearly include the full cost of repairing US military bases damaged by Iranian missile and drone attacks in the region.
The war began in February, when the United States and Israel launched military action against Iran. Although a ceasefire was reached in April, tensions have continued, and the possibility of further fighting remains.
The rising cost has also increased pressure on US officials to explain how the war is being funded and how much more money may be needed.
The latest estimate highlights the financial impact of the conflict, with billions of dollars required to maintain military operations and replace weapons and equipment. The final cost remains uncertain, especially if fighting resumes or damaged bases require major repairs.
