9 News HD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme to provide 500,000 refurbished Chromebooks and internet devices to students across Pakistan. The initiative aims to help young people access digital education and improve their learning opportunities.
The scheme was announced at a ceremony in Islamabad on Sunday, October 25. During the event, the prime minister also distributed laptops and internet devices to high-performing Grade 9 students and students of religious seminaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Shehbaz said students are an important asset for the country. He stressed the need to equip young people with modern technology and skills so they can meet the challenges of the future.
According to the prime minister, the government plans to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks within two years. He also recalled that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had distributed 600,000 laptops over a period of 10 years.
The Chromebook scheme is expected to support students who need digital devices for their studies. Access to computers and the internet can help students find educational material, attend online classes and develop useful digital skills.
The announcement is an important step towards expanding access to technology in Pakistan’s education sector. However, students looking to benefit from the programme should wait for official details about eligibility, registration and the distribution process.
Further information about the application procedure and selection criteria will help students understand how they can qualify for the scheme. Students and parents should follow official government announcements for updates about the programme.
